Sara Jafari, RD, LD, CBE, is renowned for her weight management and food behaviors expertise. She is passionate about culinary arts, and her last name, Jafari, translates to the herb parsley in her mother tongue. Sara perfectly embodies the virtues of parsley as a food behavior specialist: impelling her clients towards a life filled with eating and health habits that help reduce the risk of severe health conditions like diabetes, stroke, heart disease, and cancer.
Sara has significant experience working with clients on various weight management medications, such as liraglutide, semaglutide, and tirzepatide. She counsels clients through medication side effects and appropriate dietary management to ensure their nutritional adequacy.
For over a decade, Sara has been devoted to helping hundreds of clients improve their health and achieve their weight management goals. She has worked in various settings, from fitness centers to medical clinics, counseling a diverse clientele from various ethnic backgrounds. Sara's deep understanding of food expression in different cultures allows her to adapt her counseling and treatment plans to cater to each client's unique needs.
As a Registered Dietitian (RD) and certified bariatric educator (CBE), Sara is committed to guiding her clients towards a healthy balance between achieving their weight management goals and confidently enjoying delicious cuisines. She has a talent for swiftly adapting her approach to accommodate each client's requirements, ensuring they feel empowered and supported.
In addition to counseling her clients, Sara also provides training and mentoring to other registered dietitians in weight management. Her passion for helping others and expertise in the field make her an invaluable resource for anyone seeking to improve their health.
As recommended by the Clinical Practice Guidelines published in 2020, Behavioural Therapy is the foundational treatment for managing weight. Therefore, to change a client’s eating habits, we must first understand their daily behaviours.
Sara has extensive knowledge in behaviour change and has trained under the supervision of Dr. David Macklin, MD, the co-author of the Psychological and Behavioural Interventions chapter in the 2020 Clinical Practice Guidelines. Her expertise and training allow her to use Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) principles to help her clients successfully manage their weight.

Her experiences include working as a research assistant at Western University’s exercise and pregnancy lab, completing her dietetic internship in medicine, surgery, clinical neuroscience, renal, diabetes, and pediatrics, and working as a registered dietitian at LifeTime Athletic, the Clinics at Walmart, PathWell Clinic, and Medcan Health Management.
With her extensive, varied experiences, Sara is able to safely deliver behavior counseling, medical nutrition therapy, and treatment plans for clients who require special considerations and modifications due to their medical diagnoses.
Whether you're looking to lose weight, improve your mental health through nutrition, or adopt a healthier relationship with food, Sara can help.
